Narrow Mouth (NM) Screw Vials have a 8-425 thread and an opening of approx. 5.3 mm. The first number indicates the outer diameter of the thread (8 mm). The second number indicates a typical cap type with a relatively short thread. Japanese Autosampler require a 8 mm Screw Caps with a flange as the vial hangs in the rack by the cap.
Wide Mouth (WM) Screw Vials have a 10-425 thread and an opening of approx. 6.1 mm.The first number indicates the outer diameter of the thread (10 mm). The second number indicates a typical cap type with a relatively short thread.
     
Which type of screw cap? This depends on your Autosampler:
Agilent Autosamplers, require Agilent compatible screw caps (HP) to guarantee a smooth handling.
Japanese Autosamplers, where the vial hangs in the rack by the cap, require a screw cap with flange.
