All MiniBlock racks conform to microtiter plate size and shape, providing flexibility for collection, compatibility with dry down devices and ease of use. Using the microtiter plate footprint also keeps the overall system footprint small, making it automation friendly.

The MiniBlock XT is an easy-to-operate parallel synthesis system designed for synthesis and screening reactions. Applications include synthesis of small organic molecules, optimization of critical process parameters, and screening for optimal reaction conditions.
The MiniBlock XT is used by chemists working in biopharma, chemical, petrochemical, and polymers. The MIniBlock XT has a flexible and modular design that fits easily into your workflow and is ideal for applications supported by statistical Design of Experiments (DoE).

Magnetic stirring is a widely used and long established method for stirring and mixing in liquid media. The process is not only simple and inexpensive but extremely diverse in the range of application.
Examples include: synthetic procedures, drug delivery, chemical analysis, flow control, emulsification, milling and grinding and solid phase extraction.
Magnetic stirring can be used in open and closed systems, over a range of positive and negative pressure, over a broad temperature range and with virtually any chemical reagent. The use of bearings, glands, seals and complex drive mechanisms common to other mixing systems are not required.
PTFE is the material of choice for encapsulation because of its almost total chemical resistance and its wide range of working temperature -200˚C to +280˚C.
It is difficult to quantify the most effective shape for a particular stirring application, some shapes are self-evident, for example, an oval or egg shape for round bottom containers or a flat and triangular shape where a scraping action is required, large containers generally require large stirring bars. For very viscous liquids a vaned stirrer at slow speed is required while for stirring in shallow dishes a long thin stirrer also at slow speed is effective. Often, however,selection is a matter of choice or trial with various shapes.
Particle Formation and Abrasion:
PTFE is a relatively soft material and the rubbing action against the surface of the container may generate small particles. In an application where the generation of such particles must be avoided the stirring system must be evaluated before actual use. Generation of particles is reduced by careful selection of the shape of stirrer, ensuring the contact surfaces are smooth and even, not using an over powerful stirring bar or use suspended stirring.
De-coupling in the form of spin-out, tumbling or migration is generally due to weakness in the strength of the magnetic circuit, a mismatch in the sizes of drive magnet and stirrer bar or a stirring speed too high.
Rare Earth Magnets, because of their strength, are often found to behave in an erratic fashion and may migrate to one of the poles of the drive magnet or tumble with great ease and must, therefore, be selected with great care. Also, due to to the strength of Rare Earth Magnets, there may be an increase in abrasion between the container surface and stirrer which may lead to increased particle generation.
PTFE stirring bars can be sterilised by chemical or thermal means but not by gamma radiation.

‘TURBO’ STIRRING MAGNETS, Extra power Samarium-Cobalt magnets
Stirring bars using rare earth magnets have significantly increased magnetic strength compared to those using Alnico magnets, but more importantly, they are almost totally resistant to demagnetisation. Stirring bars using rare earth magnets are identified by a carbon black spot which is chemically inert.
Note on using Rare Earth Stirrer Magnets:
The high magnetic coupling power of Rare Earth stirrer magnets can give rise to erratic stirring effects such as magnet migration and tumbling while the powerful attraction between the stirrer and the drive magnet system can give rise to the formation of PTFE particles caused by abrasion between stirrer magnet and the container base.
Reaction Blocks can be used for a wide range of applications, from simple synthesis to process optimization. We made a basic, simple Aluminium block, with just one edge removed and a hole for a Temperature sensor: that's all!
You can use any brand or model magnetic stirrer to creat your own personal parallel systhesis block. Reactor options range from very small (1ml HPLC vials) to round or flat bottom flasks up to 1000 ml and custom reaction vessels. SecureClampTM Arcticwhite introduces its patent pending SecureClamp™ to assure sealing mat closure when vapor pressure conditions may cause lifting of the sealing mat. Lifting of the sealing mat may occur during overnight autosampling or extended sample storage. Access cavities allow for sampling while SecureClamp™ is in place.
The variety of SecureClampTM options allows for quickly securing the seal on multi-compartment storage and reaction formats. SecureClampTM can be customized for specific sizes and configurations.
For laboratories having to seal medium numbers of microplates the Mat Capper offers an affordable solution. Compact and portable, the Mat Capper is very easy to use, requiring only one operation of the system to produce an accurate and tight seal on a wide range of both collection and shallow well.
The MicroLute™ De-capper is for use with any MicroLute™ plate fitted with a drain cap. It enables the quick and easy removal of the protective lower drain cap, enabling the plate.
Thermal plate sealers
Of the various methods for sealing microplates, heat sealing has become the preferred option. It creates an air tight and chemically-resistant seal without the complications of adhesives being applied to a plate. Porvair Sciences has developed a range of units to meet the needs of low, medium
and high throughput laboratories for microplate sealing.
MicroSeal Manual Thermal Plate Sealer
The MicroSeal is designed to be compact, easy to use and ergonomic. Heat sealing a wide range of plates is quick and simple. Heat sealing protects precious samples from evaporation and contamination when performing PCR or during storage. A built-in thermostat prevents overheating of the MicroSeal and with its small footprint and ease of use, the new MicroSeal is the obvious choice for manual sealing of PCR plates and microplates. With a pre-set temperature of 170C, ideal for most common sealing applications, and dual LED status display for power and heating, the MicroSeal is safe and easy to use. An ergonomic pull down action allows single action sealing of most common plate types. Additional adaptors are available for specific plates.

MiniSeal Plus semi-automatic heat sealer
The new MiniSeal Plus builds on the proven track record of Porvair’s revolutionary MiniSeal semi-automatic microplate sealer to bring you greater comfort and safety in use, together with unmatched repeatability in sealing plates of many different types and sizes. Designed for laboratories needing to seal 20-40 plates per day, the MiniSeal Plus is compact, easy to use and simple to install. Unlike bigger automated sealers, MiniSeal Plus does NOT require a compressed air supply to operate. Instead, all operations are electronically controlled through the splashproof keypad, meaning the MiniSeal Plus can be installed, up to temperature and sealing your plates within minutes of unpacking. The compact footprint, about the size of a sheet of A4 or letter paper, means MiniSeal Plus will fit just about anywhere on your lab bench, or inside a fume hood if required.

TriSeal™ heat sealer
TriSeal is an automated plate sealer that can produce an accurate and tight seal on any SBS-standard microplate up to a maximum height of 45mm. The maximum obtainable throughput is an impressive five plates per minute. This is achieved using a unique turntable design, which allows simultaneous loading, unloading and sealing.
