C18 is the most widely used functionalized silica gel being the traditional product for reversed-phase chromatography. Despite its simplicity, not all C18s are the same and many vary in purity and loading. SiliCycle offers its SiliaBond C18 in three different loadings to enhance your separation. SiliCycle offers its C18 with three different loadings 11%, 17%, and 23% carbon. The higher the loading, the higher the degree of hydrophobicity, the greater the separation. Using a lower loading decreases the hydrophobicity and shortens the retention time. Using material with an unpublished loading can result in reproducibility issues as the loading will often vary from lot-to-lot.
